It's Official

Darren and I finally named our son!! What an accomplishment for us!! After a lot of thought we decided to name him Daylen Keith Lemons. We decided to use Keith as his middle name in honor of Darren's brother, Brandon, who passed away in April. I wanted to use Darren's initials so his son will also have a part of his name. So we chose a D name that we both liked. We have only known two Daylen's in our lives and like the unique name. It's not too traditional and it is just enough contemporary. We are excited to finally be able to answer the question, "What are you going to name him?" My family and the teens at church have already been addressing him by name. It replaces the teens' previous name of Peanut Lemons. Now we can begin to prepare for Daylen's arrival in November.

Shopping Frenzy

The day after Darren and I found out that we were having a boy we couldn't wait to start shopping. We went by Babies-R-Us to browse their bedding for boys. After looking at the selection we decided we like the "Playoffs" sports theme online at JCPenney's better so we knew we needed to go home and order it. I knew that we would need a playard and now that we knew the gender I had ideas of what to buy. After looking through all their playards and strollers I didn't see anything I liked. We were just about to leave the store when we walked past the Graco Bombay display. The very first thing I saw and fell in love with was the brown and red playard. It has a musical feature that plays 3 different songs, a nature sound button, a timer, lights, and even a vibrating option on the mattress. It was exactly what I wanted. Then we noticed next to it was a matching car seat and a dual stroller. I was determined to find just a single stroller. We went to the stroller aisle and found the single stroller. Then Darren and I were wondering if the car seat would fit on the stroller. I went and got the car seat on display and Darren took down the stroller. Of course with this being our first baby, we had no idea what we were doing. So I asked an associate for assistance. She showed us how to lower the stroller and put the car seat on. I was so excited!! Darren said we needed to look around and make sure it was the one we wanted. Then I noticed a Sale tag in front of the stroller. It said that when you buy the car seat the stroller will be 50% off!!! Of course the sale ended the next day. I took it as a sign from God that I needed to get the collection. So without hesitation, Darren and the associate began pulling the items off the shelf to take to the register. We took it home and the next day Darren assembled all of it. Although the baby won't be here until another 6 months we just couldn't help ourselves. We had to make sure it had all the parts and worked. =) So now we are walking around our beautiful playard, stroller and car seat in the living room until the nursery is finished.

Week 16 (May 27 - June 3)

Darren and I went to the doctor on the 27th and found out that we are going to have a boy!! The start of the visit to the doctor didn't run as smoothly as we had hoped. At first they didn't even have us down for a sonogram so we went back and forth to the doctor's office and the sonogram office. Then about 2 hours later we were put on the schedule for a sonogram. It took the technician about 15 minutes to determine the sex because our little boy would not cooperate. We could see him kicking his legs rapidly back and forth, but not out to the side. The technican asked me to roll over on my side to shift his position....still nothing. So she told me to get up and "jump around, " wiggle or whatever I needed to do to get him to adjust. Finally when I got back on the table he had opened his legs far enough that she was quickly able to determine that he was a boy. She said that she was 99% sure he was a boy. Dianne, my mother-in-law, was "jumping for joy." It was amazing to see one of God's creations moving on the screen. After seeing that, I wonder how people cannot believe there is a God. The miracle of a growing baby developing all of its organs and being able to survive in fluid for 9 months is amazing!! We were able to bring a DVD to record the sonogram which we enjoyed. I could watch our son move all day long if I had the time.

Week 15 (May 19-26)

This week our baby is 4 inches long. It is moving amniotic fluid through its nose and throat. Its legs are growing bigger than the arms, and can now move its joints and limbs. Right now I can't feel our baby moving, but I can hear the heartbeat on the baby monitor which helps me know everything is okay.

We go back to Dr. Light on May 27th, to determine if I will have a baby boy or girl. We are so excited. Once we find out, we will begin construction on the nursery and begin shopping for the little one.
